The range of BDS fully ground core drills
BDS fully ground core drills are manufactured on modern CNC grinding centres to ensure consistent quality, high cutting performance, and smooth chip evacuation. The programme covers multiple cutting depths and more than 90 drilling diameters, making it easy to select the right cutter for each application.
HSS-Co 8 series
High-cobalt HSS-Co 8 cutters are designed for demanding jobs where heat resistance and wear protection are critical. They are ideal for fine-grained steels, stainless and rust-resistant materials, especially when used with variable-speed magnetic drilling machines.
- High degree of heat resistance for heavy-duty drilling.
- Better wear protection and high cobalt content of approximately 8%.
- Suitable for higher loads in fine-grained steels and rustproof materials.
- Available with 19 mm or 32 mm Weldon shank; no special adapter required.
- Can be resharpened to extend tool life and reduce operating cost.

HSS-VarioPLUS series
HSS-VarioPLUS is a high-strength fully ground core drill series with a special carbide coating for maximum performance. It offers a very smooth cut, improved chip removal and longer service life, particularly during prolonged drilling.
- Fully ground core drill made from high-performance high-speed steel.
- Carbide coating in a range of about 2.5 µ for high wear protection.
- Uniform chip discharge for safe, vibration-free operation.
- Longer service life compared to standard HSS cutters.
- Can be resharpened for economical use.

HSS-Standard series
The HSS-Standard series covers everyday structural and fabrication drilling where a reliable, economical cutter is required. These fully ground core drills are made from high-performance high-speed steel and can be resharpened when worn.
- Tools available in three cutting depths: 30 mm, 55 mm and 110 mm.
- Core drilling diameters from approx. 12 mm up to 130 mm (depending on depth and shank type).
- Fully ground cutting geometry for smooth drilling and clean finish.
- Suitable for general structural steel, machine building, shipbuilding and fabrication work.
- Can be resharpened for lower cost per hole.

Cutting depth 55 mm: KBL (long series), diameters approx. 12–60 mm.

- Choose HSS-VarioPLUS when you need maximum tool life, excellent chip evacuation and reduced load on the magnetic drilling machine.
- Select HSS-Standard for routine structural steel drilling where cost-effective performance is the priority.
Proper lubrication with recommended BDS cutting oils and coolants further increases tool life and improves hole quality.
